The Minnesota Board of Medical Practice protects the public health and safety by assuring that the people who practice medicine or an allied health professional are competent, ethical practitioners with the necessary knowledge and skills appropriate to their title and role. The Board regulates over 31,000 health care providers in eight professions and investigates over 1,000 complaints annually. The Board enforces statutes and rules for the regulation of people who practice medicine or as an allied health professionals including physicians, acupuncturists, athletic trainers, genetic counselors, naturopathic doctors, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, and traditional midwives.

This position offers an opportunity to use your expertise working with a team of professionals to further the work of the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Respond to inquiries in a professional, comprehensive and timely manner to assure stakeholders have the information necessary to engage in the Board’s processes.

  • Use specialized software to manage office supply and equipment inventories.

  • Facilitate purchasing processes in an efficient and timely manner to support fiscal operations.

  • Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence including but not limited to mail, fax, email, and in person.

  • Provide administrative support to executive staff.

  • Coordinate and facilitate multiple meetings.

  • Work as part of a collaborative team to provide office wide support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer service skills sufficient to: (1) provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to all internal and external stakeholders on the phone, in person, through email and other written correspondence; and (2) effectively communicate and elicit information with tact and diplomacy in difficult situations, and efficiently resolve customer problems.

  • Word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents, including spreadsheets, tables, charts, and graphs.

  • Data entry skills sufficient to enter, compile, evaluate, store, retrieve and create data reports in an accurate and organized manner.

  • Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to type/keyboard a variety of documents accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work independently and resolve routine problems.

  • Review documents for accuracy and identify discrepancies.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to clearly explain standards, policies, and procedures to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in providing administrative support to senior management.

  • Experience updating website content.

  • Experience with general accounting.

  • Experience collaborating in a team environment.

  • Ability to manage schedules to complete responsibilities in a timely manner with limited supervision.

  • Ability to maintain protected data as classified.
