The Classification & Compensation Specialist provides professional-level human resource support services for the Direct Care & Treatment (DCT) Human Resources Classification & Compensation Team. The position is responsible for fulfilling classification and compensation-related duties for Direct Care & Treatment (DCT). Working collaboratively as part of the larger DCT HR Team, this position will support and conduct job classification and compensation analyses, assist with related studies and projects, perform research and information gathering, make job audit recommendations, and support hiring managers and staff on topics related to classification and compensation.

This position requires a collaborative and relationship-driven approach by actively partnering with leadership, other HR team members, and other stakeholders to appropriately classify positions within DHS to uphold the State Merit System and to support DCT in effective personnel management and its broader organizational mission.

Minimum Qualifications

2 year’s professional Human Resources experience with general knowledge of job analysis, compensation analysis, and/or classification.

*Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology or closely related field may substitute for 1 year of professional Human Resources experience*.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience interpreting current employment laws, regulations, and policies related to classification, recruitment, selection, hiring, promotion, and/or retention of employees.

  • Experience conducting public sector job analysis/classification.

  • Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
