This position provides staffing and scheduling support to the Nursing and Nurse Management staff at the Minnesota Veterans Home - Mpls. This position is also responsible for the production and maintenance of staff schedules (Master and Daily) and providing guidance and direction to Office and Administrative Specialist-Intermediate employees in the Scheduling Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the agency's mission and functions sufficient to design, interpret, and/or explain administrative and program procedures.

  • Skill in customer service sufficient to communicate effectively with employees and supervisors/managers regarding nursing schedules, changes to schedules, and responding to problems.

  • Skill in providing leadwork for others sufficient to plan, coordinate, and direct office support activities.

  • Skill in keyboarding/typing, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software sufficient to produce forms, reports and general correspondence.

  • Skill in using spreadsheet software applications, such as Microsoft Excel sufficient to produce and maintain reports on nursing activity and employee data.

  • Skill in database management sufficient to enter, maintain, update, and retrieve information from a staffing/scheduling software.

  • Ability to manage an office and to plan, organize, administer, and direct the work of other employees.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing leadwork to staffing and scheduling employees

  • Experience using an electronic scheduling/staffing software

  • Experience in providing training to others

  • Knowledge of bargaining unit agreements sufficient to resolve scheduling questions

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel to extract data

  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and complete complex tasks with limited supervision

Additional Requirements

This position requires successful completion of the following:
